Where have I been?

Okay, so I am not so good at the blogging / journaling thing. Its been months and we have moved some down the road. I will try to bring you up to speed. We made it to Port Clinton and checked in at the on-base RV campground at Camp Perry. Perry is a multi service training facility with an intriguing array of military and civilian training opportunities and other activities. Most of us got up early and headed out to the various birding facilities every morning for 11 days. The local aviation museum had a very interesting array of aviation oriented displays with a bunch of WWII vehicles thrown in. They also have an outstanding Diner on the premises.

We then moved north to Detroit, Michigan where we toured the Henry Ford Musuem and facilities. What a wonderful collection of vehicles, stories, general paraphernalia, steam engines and did I mention vehicles. Over the next couple of days we moved north through Michigan, across the Mackinac Bridge into the Upper Peninsula. We moved west along the northern shoreline of Lake Michigan and then on west into Wisconsin. We hit Superior, along the north coast of the state and set up camp in the front yard of my sister Jane's house. We stayed a week. We loved the family camaraderie, the weather, the wonderful sights and the fresh, spring-time air. The food wasn't bad either.

Then it was time to leave and we went south and east to Oshkosh on Lake Winnebago to visit with family and my best friend in college. Moving back west, we headed to Lake Elmo, Minnesota for a two-night stay and visits with more family. Continuing west, we headed into South Dakota with stops in Sioux Falls, Oacoma, and finally Rapid City for a full week stay. Then we went south and west to Cheyenne, Wyoming where we are right now. There you go. We have caught you up.

We spent a full week in Rapid City - well, just outside actually - going to see the Mount Rushmore Memorial, making a trip over to Sturgis to pay homage to the big Kahuna of Motorcycle Festivals in the country and on to Deadwood - which is still a place designed to part visitors from their money - provided a lot of sights and more than a few WTH moments. We both liked Rapid City for a lot of different reasons.
