Goose Island State Park was flattened by Hurricane Harvey several years ago. While the flora and fauna still shows the resulting damage, the State Park is in great shape. Our site was clean and inviting. We slipped out 36 foot trailer into its slot with no issues at all and setting up was rather quickly done. I may be in the minority in this, but I enjoy the journey to the site and the process of setting up as well as being at the site. Since we were camping with Vicky's sister and husband, and since they were in the campsite next to us. we went over to their rig for supper the first night. One of the fundamental joys of camping is interacting with the people on site. In this case, it was people we knew well and we enjoyed talking, drinking wine and just hanging out.
Cat Report - Ziva and Sampson weathered the trip just fine. They complained loudly at the outset and were wandering all over the inside of the truck on the way, but mostly they settled down and napped on Vicky's lap or on the back seat. Once we arrived, they freaked out a bit upon being introduced to the trailer. Just as I expected, Ziva made a beeline for the theatre chairs and stayed under them until Vicky and I went to bed. Sampson prowled around the entire trailer and finally settled down about an hour before we went to bed.
