When Michael and I were first talking about doing a website about our travels, I of course said, “Sure! I’ll write a blog each day, too!” Ha! We’ve been out on the road for more than a week now, and I have not yet contributed. In my defense, I have been “nesting” quite a bit, as I am prone to doing whenever I move into a new home. I’ve been arranging the kitchen to my satisfaction, discovering what was provided in our rental RV and what was not. Some stuff I thought I brought still hasn’t shown up. I’m sure it will once we start unloading the RV and packing it into our truck for our trip home!
I love the 2015 Cruiser 305RS fifth wheel that we rented. The kitchen is beautifully laid out with plenty of storage and counter space. There’s enough space to easily put our Keurig coffee maker next to the stove and still have room for cups, utensils and stove top prep stuff. The cabinets are high quality and the Corian counter top and tile backsplash makes it feel like home. And it turns out that the 8 cubic foot refrigerator provides ample space to meet our needs.
The living area is much like the Grand Design Solitude 310 RS that we have as our ultimate goal for long term RV-ing. The theater seating and couch are very comfortable and offer plenty of space of not only Michael and me, but my sister and her husband when they join us. The dining area has a nice large table and plenty of space for comfortably seating 4 large adults (the guys are both 6’ 4”) while eating a meal. Michael loves the big-screen TV and I love the fireplace – everyone’s happy!
While the bedroom isn’t as roomy as the Solitude 310 will be, there’s a full size queen bed with enough room to get around it to make it up in the mornings relatively easily. The closet in the bedroom and one in the bathroom offers plenty of hanging and drawer space for our clothes and linens. There’s lots of other storage in the bedroom and bathroom as well. The only complaint I have is that the RV we are renting came with relatively transparent blinds throughout the trailer, which offer extremely limited privacy. All clothes changing has to be done in the bathroom, or at minimum you have to hang a sheet or towel over the bedroom window to provide some real privacy. I have never seen blinds like these before – they are more like “sun screens” than real blinds, and they would easily be the first thing we would replace if we got this RV as our own.
But that is seriously the only thing about this RV that I would change. It’s not terribly long (only 33.25’) and pulls really well. I haven’t driven yet when we are pulling the fifth wheel, but I’m sure I’ll be able to in the future. I’m looking forward already to our next RV adventure!
