I've long believed that planning and preparing is part of the vacation fun. What to put into that suitcase? Bring a book or magazines? For road trips - poring over maps and searching for the perfect route can be fun.
In this light, Vicky and I have been on vacation for two weeks now. Since we are using a RV that belongs to someone else, we're not really sure what it will have and what we need to provide. Garret, the rig's owner, has been super helpful, but neither of us can think of everything. So, Vicky has been concerned with inside things and I have been concentrating on making the truck ready and getting gear for the trip.
This is not our first rodeo. We already have camp chairs, lanterns, sleeping bags, cooking gear, RV-centric GPS unit, walkie talkies, wheel chocks, and more. But a fifth wheel is a serious RV and there were some things I needed to get - like a 50-amp power protector, expandable hose, water filter, air compressor, tire repair kit, and miscellaneous connectors and tools. On top of that we had to arrange for lodging on the way to Albuquerque and back, plus camp sites near the Great Sand Dunes National Park and at the Santa Fe KOA. So, the fun has already begun.
