RV Rental

We rented a 35’ fifth wheel RV from Garret and Monique Toya of Rio Rancho, NM. They are a delightful couple and have a really nice RV rig. As I have outlined elsewhere, it is a 2015 Crossroads Cruiser 305RS with a rear living floorplan. It features a pair of theatre seats facing a wide screen TV, a couch that seats three, a kitchen area with a peninsula counter top, a four-person dining table and a queen bed in the bedroom.

As with our previous Outdoorsy RV rental, we arrived a day early to introduce ourselves and familiarize ourselves with the RV. Garret helped me mount the Andersen Hitch adapter to the Cruiser pinbox while Monique graciously helped Vicky load our stuff into the rig. All told, we were at their house for about an hour and a half doing the preliminary stuff. Garrett showed me where all the controls were and the Toyas provided a ton of gear to make our RV experience a pleasure. We returned on Sunday morning, after stocking up on food at the local Albertsons, attached the RV to the truck, stowed the food and then we were off.

Vicky, far right, and I meet with Monique and Garrett Toya before out trip.

Outdoorsy takes care of all the financial arrangements. All I had to do was provide a credit card. The online interface was great and the messaging center made it easy for me to keep in touch with Garrett in the months leading up to our vacation date. I also liked the listing that the Toya’s put into Outdoorsy. Vicky and I knew exactly what kind of RV we wanted to rent and their entry was head and shoulders above most of the listings on the web site. They included lots of pertinent information and lot of photos so we could see exactly what the rig looked like. Vicky immediately liked the light colored leather on the living room furniture. I liked the weight, pin weight and length statistics.

While neither Vicky nor I have ever camped in or towed a fifth wheel before, it turned out to be a breeze, just as Garrett said it would. Renting a RV is definitely the way to go, especially if you are trying different types of rigs on for size. And so far, we like this rig a lot. It is the perfect size for us.
