Here we go again.

Updated: Jan 9, 2021

So, this time we are taking the cats. Vicky and I have tried to prepare them for a long trip by taking them for occasional rides in the truck, but I'm sure a test ride is not like the real thing. So, we don't really know what is going to happen. One think I do know - Ziva and Sampson will not be happy.

We are less than a week out from our next trip. COVID-19 still rages and, while Vic and I qualify right now for the vaccine, there are none in sight. I have put us on two waiting lists. Neither one has shown any sign of opening up over the past several days. That's okay. We have been careful - and camping is something of a solitary endeavor anyway.

We hooked up with them for the final couple of days during out trip out west last time.

Vicky just wrapped up a major proposal writing effort and I believe she is ready for a margarita and a couple of days off. I am always ready to put my feet up and read a book. It doesn't even have to be a good book.

We are going to Goose Island a Texas State Park which is on the gulf coast just north of Corpus Christi. So, even though it is January, the weather should be cool to warm. There are beaches near by so maybe I will get a day at the beach. The area is still recovering from a recent hurricane but we don't plan on eating out or going into a lot places anyway.

We are once again renting a RV through Outdoorsy, this time a 35-foot travel trailer. It does not come with a weight distribution hitch, so I bought one used on Craigslist and will need to install that before we hit the road. I would not travel more than a few miles with a trailer that size without a WD hitch. But, a lot of people do. Anyway, the trailer's owner was receptive to making an adjustment to the rental fee in exchange for the hitch. And she gets free installation. Check out the trailer in our equipment section.
