Departure Minus 96 Hours

Nearly half the horizontal surfaces in our house are being used as staging sites for gear and supplies we need to put into the RV before we depart in four days. Vicky is also cooking up a storm, preparing dishes that freeze and refrigerate well. I am also expecting a couple of last-minute deliveries from Amazon.

On Friday we will retrieve our rig from the storage facility. We plan to park it out in front of our house until we leave on Sunday morning. I have trimmed back the trees leaning over the road and am prepared to hook up to electricity and water. There are several last minute repairs and upgrades I want to implement before we take off.

  1. Replace the hand rail over the stairs leading up to the bath/bedroom area

  2. Add some weather stripping to one of the storage bay doors

  3. Mount curtain rod holders into the boxy valances over the living area windows

  4. Add LED lights to the pantry

Then there is the storage area itself which I want to rearrange. We seem to have a few additional items this time around - new folding chairs and a sewage macerater along with storage bag, hoses and connectors. More on that in a subsequent post. We've talked about loading up and bringing the bicycles - but I think its a bad idea this time around.

As you probably know we are visiting nine Texas State Parks over the next two months. I'm calling it the Tour of Texas - 2022. I plan on taking a lot of photos, walking trails, visiting museums and other local points of interest and generally having a good time. But it won't all be fun. I am back at work with the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department working on a project to develop a Request for Proposal. So I need to be available for meetings and spend some time working on the various tasks associated with the project.
