Departure - Minus 36 Hours

Updated: Jan 28, 2023

Time to fix some things, enhance some things, clean most things and put things away.

I retrieved our rig from the storage yard today. Parking it in front of the house went as expected, not too easy - not too tough. My brother-in-law and great buddy Lynn Heenan helped me out. Vicky set to almost immediately cleaning the living area and preparing the pantry and refrigerator for food stocking. Both cats thoroughly inspected the RV and pronounced it Ho Hum!

They say that timing is everything. Well, of late my timing has been atrocious. That continued today when our support rep at the RV dealership notified me that our part is in for a warranty repair. But we are going to be out of town. Bah! It's not a critical repair, one of those things that is annoying more than anything else, but I would like to get it done. So, we have arranged to have the work done in April. There are other things that I am going to do myself tomorrow. Then, on Sunday, we fling the cats into the truck and hit the road.

There is so much to do. We need to arrange for our mail to be picked up, I need to set the house thermostats, pull the plug on as much electronics as we can, set the Escape so we can resurrect it upon our return - and more. None of that includes storing all the travel junk we have plus food, clothing, toiletries, cat stuff, and personal electronics.

I plan on shooting a lot of photos on this trip so I am packing extra camera gear which I will tote around for two months and never use. Then it will go back into the closet until the next time I don't use it. Ah well. At least it is well rested.
