Thursday - January 14, 2021
Well, I picked up the rental trailer this morning and Vicky is hard at work stuffing out gear into all of its nooks and crannies. Lynn (my best friend) and I installed the weight distribution hitch - much easier than anticipated - and later today I will confirm that all of the utilities are working and ready to go. Gotta put some water into the clean water tank I'm sure. I found the trailer instructions so I will do a little light reading tonight as well.
The cats are a bit agog about the trailer. The just can't figure what it is all about. They have been under it, sniffing everything they can reach. Little do they know that it will be their home for the next week or so. I am expecting little kitty tantrums all over the place. More likely, they will just hunker down and exist in place for the first day or two. Sampson is our cool dude cat and he will no doubt explore the interior and then find a handy spot for a nap. Ziva on the other hand is a very cautious and timid kitty. I expect her to be on pins and needles for the first couple of days.
I am loading up the truck with all of the items we might need over the coming week - tools, camp chairs, mosquito repellant devices, water filter, water line regulator, electrical adapters, wheel chocks. and so much more. We plan to take off tomorrow morning sometime between 10:00 am and noon. Since it is roughly a four hour trip to Goose Island, we should be parked and set up well before sundown.
