I like to read. I read all kinds of things - books, magazines, pamphlets, cereal boxes, even installation instructions when all else fails. Now, I get to read at home but there is something special about taking a vacation day at the campsite and simply reading. There is no temptation to get up and do chores (although don't get me wrong - there are plenty of chores to be done while camping), or watch TV, or just goof off. Camping by its nature is kinda goofing off.
So I welcome the occasional down day when I can just kick back and read. Today is such a day. I am currently reading a Jack Reacher mystery by Lee Child. The Jack Reacher I envision is more Tom Sellick than Tom Cruise. I am slowly reading the entire series from the beginning and am about two thirds of the way through. I read them on my iPad with Amazon's Kindle Reader. I'm also a member of Kindle Unlimited so I read a lot of books in a month. I recently reread Tony HIllerman's The Fallen Man.
Another thing I do on down days is to do some writing. Not just this blog, but I am slowly (very slowly) working on a novel. It is my own who done it mystery that mostly takes place at a high school class reunion wherein our hero solves a mystery that is 25 years old. It has a pretty good twist at the end that should surprise most people. It sure surprised me.
Vicky and I are avid fans of the Expanse and are currently working our way through season 4. I was able to get our Amazon FireStick running on the RV television and so we were able to watch an episode last night. Love that Amos. We sometimes watch old Midsommer Murder mysteries along with Death in Paradise episodes. But we won't be watching much TV while on vacation. There is too much real life to explore.
