Heading North
The plan is to head north and east up through Kentucky into Ohio, ending up just outside of Toledo at the Camp Perry RV Campground. It will take us a week with four stops on the way and we will be staying at Camp Perry for 11 days. That region is in the flight path for the spring avian migration and lots of different birds fill the sky and tree branches.
From there we head north into Michigan, stopping for a few days outside of Detroit, and then farther north into the woods. We will cross the upper peninsula into northern Wisconsin in time to spend the Memorial Day weekend with my sisters in Superior. Then down to Appleton, Wisconsin to see a college buddy of Michael's and then west to Minneapolis/St. Paul to visit more family.
From there we head west across Minnesota to South Dakota where we will spend a few weeks checking out Sturgis, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, and Custer National Park. By then June will be winding down and we will head home to spend the really hot months back in Texas. I know, I know...that is backwards but there are reasons we are doing it this way.
Above is a map of our itinerary. We have two stops before we arrive in Farmington. Then we hop over to Durango and then three stops across northern Texas on our way to Athens. We are heading to Athens where I will be attending the NRVTA basic RV maintenance class. I intend to become a registered RV Technician so I can fix my rig and the rigs of my friends. I might also make a buck or two on the side.
