Michael was born at a very young age in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He had a typical childhood involving flaming go-carts, run ins with nuns, high school athletics and drama, and playing bass for various bands.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in journalism and proceeded to work for 15 years for a variety of newspapers on Long Island, New York.  He quickly learned he could make more money writing computer code than writing news, so in the early 1990's he embarked on career number two as an IT professional.  After another 15 years in software development, he semi-retired and took up career number three - namely running his own photography and video business.  However, 2008 was one of the worst times to start a service business so Mike soon moved on to career number four - working for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department.

When not working Mike enjoys way too many interests and hobbies including bike riding, cinema, music, working on muscle cars, flying his drone, writing, photography (naturally) and reading mystery novels.
