Summer 2024
On the Road Once Again
All Aboard!
If its springtime, then we must be on the road to Ohio.
Every spring we load up the RV and head to the southern shore of Lake Erie so Vicky and the Girls can watch birds migrate north. This year we are heading east from Ohio, wandering through the northern New England states up to Acadia National Park in Maine. Then we had south to visit with my brother Mark and his family and also stop in and visit my aunt Paisley in Virginia. From there we will head back to Austin to be back in Texas in July.
Along the way we will check in with the Watkins Glen Race Circuit, Fort Ticonderoga (see photo above), Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, and more. We have both cats along for the ride and thankfully they seem to have acclimated to RV living. They still don't like it, but they tolerate it along with us.
We are visiting a lot of historical sites and museums this trip. Finally, I get to put that Liberal Arts education to some use. We have also visited the Star Trek Set Tour, which is a full size reproduction of the Desilu sets used in the production of the original Star Trak series. Very cool. I sat in the captain's chair on the bridge and fired the phasers at some passing Klingons.
It is now June and we are in Virginia. We spend a few days with brother Mark and his wife Dara, and now we are just north of Richmond on our way to to visit with Aunt Paisley. And after that, we head west into the sunset on our way back to Round Rock.

About RV-Walkabout
Michael Strycharske has retired from his job with the Parks Department at the City of Austin, Texas. Even though Vicky will continue to operate her consulting business, they are embarking on the next chapter of their lives by hitching a 5th Wheel RV to their truck, gathering up two housecats and taking to the roads of America to see what's out there.
This site will be a record of their travels.
